My multi-coloured website and logo is about a love of colour rather than trying to echo any of the fabulous pride flags, as I am not part of the LGBTQI+ community.
From where I stand as a white cis woman, I believe diversity is a vital part of the richness of both Australia and the wider world and that there are many areas of life in which we need to work much harder to ensure inclusion for people of all backgrounds and experiences.
I aim to be an ally on a personal level by offering support and acceptance for friends and family whose queerness, skin-colour, neurodiversity or disability brings challenge as well as joy. A focus for me is to continue to educate myself, at least partly through reading other writers’ social posts, articles and books.
I live and write on Country of the Minjungbal people of the broader Bundjalung Nation. I recognise all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s continuing connection to land, water and culture and pay my respects to Elders.
I aim to be inclusive in my work by respecting, welcoming and celebrating people from all the myriad of communities that give our world colour.
